Empowering Youth Since 2026

Where athletic potential meets academic excellence.

Winstitute of America develops the next generation of leaders through education, technology, and athletics — strengthening communities nationwide.

Founded by Dwight Phillips — 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist and four-time World Champion in Long Jump — to give the next generation what he wishes he had at their age.
— Our Mission

"The Winstitute of America empowers youth through athletics, education, and technology. We develop the next generation of leaders by providing access to sports training, academic enrichment, and mentorship programs that promote character, discipline, and opportunity.

— Three Pillars

Built on what works.

Every program we build stands on three pillars that have proven to change young lives — when they're applied together, with intention, by people who know what they're doing.

Education

Academic tutoring, ACT/SAT prep, college counseling, and financial literacy. Athletic talent without education is a dead end. We refuse to let that happen to our kids.

Education programs →

Technology

Digital skills, content creation, and STEM through sport — biomechanics, sports analytics, and the data tools that elite athletes already use. The future is technical. Our kids will be ready.

Technology programs →

Athletics

Olympic-caliber coaching, age-appropriate strength training, and structured competitive experience. Sports teach discipline, resilience, and how to win — and how to lose well.

— Founder

Dwight Phillips. Olympic Gold. Now, a coach.

In 2004, on the runway at Olympic Stadium in Athens, Dwight Phillips became the world's best long jumper. Twenty years later, he's still trying to make young athletes the best version of themselves — but the medal isn't the point anymore.

The Winstitute exists because Dwight knows what it took to reach the top — and what it would have meant to have the right people pulling him forward when he was still climbing.

Why Winstitute exists.

An origin story, a mission, and a promise to the next generation of athletes and leaders.

In August 2004, Dwight Phillips became Olympic Gold Medalist in long jump. That moment didn't come from talent alone. It came from coaches who believed in him, teachers who pushed him, and a community that refused to let him fall through the cracks.

Twenty years later, Dwight founded the Winstitute of America to give the next generation what made his career possible — but to do it on purpose, at scale, for kids who don't have the same head start.

We exist because too many talented young athletes burn out by 19. Their bodies were trained but their minds weren't. They got recruiting attention but no help with the SAT. They had teammates but no real mentors. And by the time the scholarship offers stopped coming, they were already behind academically — with no plan B.

"Athletic talent without education is a dead end. We refuse to let that happen to our kids."

We build programs that braid education, technology, and athletics together — not as separate tracks, but as one integrated approach to developing whole young people. Our students learn biomechanics alongside their sprint mechanics. They get college counseling alongside their training. They have mentors who've done what they dream of doing.

This is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. We are building something that will outlast our founder — an institution that can serve thousands of young people across this country, and produce not just better athletes, but better citizens.

Thank you for being here. Now let's get to work.

— Theory of Change

How we'll know it's working.

We're transparent about being a new organization. Year 1 is about proving the model: can 25 students complete a 9-month program that braids education, technology, and athletics, and come out the other side with measurably better academic readiness, physical health, and confidence?

Our outcomes framework is built on four measurable pillars. We collect baseline data at intake, mid-program (December), and end-of-program (May). Annual reports will be published publicly starting Year 2.

1. Academic readiness — GPA change, college application completion, SAT/ACT prep hours logged, scholarship applications submitted.

2. Physical performance — Sprint times, vertical jump, body composition. Self-reported fitness and energy levels.

3. Confidence & character — Validated self-efficacy scale administered at intake and exit. Mentor and coach evaluations.

4. Post-program trajectory — Tracked alumni outcomes: college enrollment, athletic recruitment, ongoing engagement with the Winstitute community.

Funders and donors get an annual impact report every July. We don't hide behind PR language — when something doesn't work, we'll say so, and we'll explain what we learned.

Four ways to help.

This work doesn't happen without people who care. Whether you have an hour a month or a network you can open, we'd love to hear from you.

On September 25, 2027, runners of all ages and abilities will take to the streets of Atlanta in honor of one of the city's greatest champions.
